I still have the two (RED) shirts I got at the Gap oh so many years ago.
Welcome! We are thrilled to connect with you and GAP for our nationwide giving day in support of climate and environmental nonprofits. Congratulations on your new role with the company. Our key goal is to build a broad community of earth givers who redirect some of their generosity to the critical solutions being advanced by nonprofits and personally embrace ways to live more harmoniously with the planet.
Allow me to share a bit more background.
Earth Gives Day is a 30+ day initiative kicking off on September 5 and culminating on October 7. The platform allows for a “shopping cart” type of experience for giving to a diverse community of 501(c)(3) organizations, commitment of volunteer hours, learning and connecting with g
roups through event postings, and peer-to-peer fundraising for individuals to rally their own communities to do the same. We also host public education and activation programs called Power Hours, which have been presented by notable figures like Bill McKibben and organizations with expertise in regenerative agriculture, water and circularity.
In researching GAP's impressive work in sustainability, we believe the following ideas for your participation in Earth Gives Day might serve your interests in promoting water stewardship, sustainable fashion and serving the needs of women.
Sponsor Earth Gives Day as our Green Giant sponsor at the $25,000 sponsorship level. (Benefit details can be forwarded.)
Establish a $10,000 Prize Fund branded as the GAP Fund targeting nonprofit mission categories such as water stewardship, environmental justice, women-led organizations, fashion ciruclarity or renewable energy. Prize Funds encourage nonprofits to promote your fund and potentially win the funds by rallying the most donors or dollars based on organization size. 100% of these funds are passed on to the successful nonprofits.
Other strategic options:
Invite partners or your various brands to join in this initiative. Invite all the nonprofit partners you work with to join as a participant in the giving day.
Leverage the initiative’s campaign messaging to engage your customers and brand ambassadors in fun ways. (A full toolkit including graphic ads is provided to highlight your partnership.)
Set up a free GAP Company Giving page, inviting your team and customers to invest in the nonprofits you choose to support. (Consider matching donations up to a certain amount.) Team members and customers can also set up Peer-to-Peer pages off your page or off nonprofits they want to showcase. (Back-end data is captured for contests and for your own follow-up activities and shout outs.)
Set up one or several Eco Hours, one-hour contests that include small giveaways throughout the initiative, featuring your logo and links to your website or a specific product page. You can use these to profile your different brand offerings
